Report: Free Practice Quotes, Dijon 2006

Quotes from Dijon

Sean Edwards – nr 9 Tech 9 Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup: “I was here for the official test, but this is my team-mate’s first time here, and his first time in this car. Unfortunately my usual team-mate had some budget problem so he could not make it. It is a shame because we worked well together. Anyway, I’m ready to fight for the Championship. In the first session we worked for the qualifying, whereas in the second, we were concentrating on the race set-up. We have had enough of being second, we want to win, even if Dijon is not the best track for our Porsche. But I heard from the French drivers that races here are always surprising, so as usual we’ll try to be consistent, and we will see.”

Patrick Bornhauser – nr 10 Racing Logistic Dodge Viper Competition Coupe: “This morning we had to get to know the track! No, I’m joking. Of course, when you’re racing at home, it is easier. We just have to adapt the car to the circuit. This week-end, Jean-Luc Blanchemain is back. He also knows the track, so it will be OK. We are working on the set-up, and  will try to be better than in the first session, even if it was not so bad. We have to score plenty of points this week-end, but it is going to be difficult because the others never give up! I think the nr 9 Tech 9 Motorsport Porsche is the most dangerous so far. They were really fast this morning.”

Olivier Dupard – nr 11 Racing Logistic Dodge Viper Competition Coupe: “As usual we are on the pace, but not at the front! We had the feeling that our car is not as efficient as the other Vipers. We have to know why! Here we know the track, so we are 100% concentrated on the set-up of the car. We know that we have the potential to win, we are both on the same time, and we just have to be consistent.”

Marcello Zani – nr 23 BMS Scuderia Italia Aston Martin DBRS9: “It is the first time for us here, so first we have to learn. But the track is very nice. We are losing time in the fast corners, but I think we have a solution. The car is good, we have a quite good balance, and I’m sure we could be in front. I’ll do my best to be on pole like I did in Spa! It is very fun because all the cars are fast today, Aston Martin, Corvette, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari… all the cars are very close on this track.”

Philippe Charriol – nr 21 Riverside Corvette Z06 GT3: “We had a new clutch and a new set up, so I had to discover all those changes. Christopher Campbell, my team-mate, did a great job. He was racing instructor here, so he knows this wonderful circuit very well. We are still working, if all is going on such a way, for sure the podium is our main goal.”

Stefano Livio – nr 27 Racing Box Dodge Viper Competition Coupe: “During the first session all was OK. We have been here in April for the official test, so we know in which direction we had to go. We had too much understeer in “Pouas” corner, so after we were not so good on the very long straight line. We have to change something on the car and it will be OK. After our good week-end in Oschersleben, Spa was a nightmare for us. I had an accident during the first race, and we broke an engine on the second. So we have to be good here, it is very important for the championship to score maximum points and then we are going to Mugello! If we are good enough here, it is going to be a huge advantage to play for the Championship at home!”

Stephane Daoudi – nr 34 JMB Racing Competition Ferrari 430 Challenge GT3 : “I had few tests with this car in August. We worked quite well, and the car is much better. We had a lot of understeer, and we found a good solution. But we still have work to do. I’m here to help Hector Lester to get a good result in this Championship. I did not drive a lot today, because Hector needed to get used to this track that he did not know, and he needs to practice as much as possible as he wants a good result in this Championship.”

Hans Reiter – Reiter Engineering: “We had new wheels for this race, so now the car is more consistent. We have improved the car since spa, and I’m not unhappy with today’s result. Our cars are fast, on the right pace, and even if we had a few little problems when the nr 13 and nr 15 went off I’m sure that we are going to fight for the leading positions this time.”
